Artist's Biography:
“Born to Paint” has become my life’s motto because I have always wanted to pursue and develop my artistic talents. I began making “art” at the age of three or four by cutting out my own unique paper dolls. Now, more than seven decades later, I am a serious painter.
In college, I received a degree in elementary education, and taught for several years before my husband and I started a family. The dreams of being an artist were buried, but not dead.
I began my art education with a life drawing class at Tulane University in New Orleans, La. Then, the next year, I took lessons from a renowned Louisiana artist, Violet Moulin. There was also a watercolor session there. When we moved to London, England, I still pursued my dream, and even took a one-week watercolor painting holiday in Devon before we moved back to the states. Over the years I have furthered my art education by taking from many notable painters. For the last ten years or so, I have been taking from Lap Ngo, World Painter. He has opened my eyes to new styles, new media and new techniques – for example Flemish style oil, egg tempera, portraiture, palate knife, and so much more.
Over the years, I have entered numerous art shows, and have won many awards including Best of Show, First Place, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention. For about the last ten years, I have had one or more of my paintings hanging in the State Fair of Texas which means that they were awarded ribbons by the judge(s). In addition to entering my artwork in many shows, I have displayed it in art galleries, restaurants, sidewalk art shows, and several one-person shows. Next, I am having a one-person-show in February at the Renner-Frankfort Library on Frankfort Road in Dallas, with a reception on February 19th, from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
I was truly “Born to Paint.”
