Artists Gallery - Lynda DeGrow Kingsley
Artist's Biography:
Lynda is a watercolor artist specializing in large scale flowers. She has studied watercolors and collage with a dozen teachers in Texas and New Mexico.
Artist's Statement:
I felt drawn to painting large scale flowers in watercolors since the early 1990's, but was busy with running a family business and raising three children. A series of events created the opportunity for me to sell my business and move from my long-time home in New Mexico to the historic district of McKinney, and to paint in my new studio.
Although I am a relative newcomer to watercolor, I previously designed and created elaborate tutus and costumes for a New Mexico ballet company, which taught me a lot about color and design. I continue to create Dickens costumes for the annual McKinney "Dickens of a Christmas" event.
Since my move to McKinney, I have studied aggressively on my own, and with many talented teachers. I recently applied to UNT to work towards a BFA in watercolor. I won t:the Founders Award" for "Hot Sun Iris" at the Collin County Art Show and recently had a painting accepted to the annual Southwestern Watercolor Society Show.
I have always been attracted to the beauty and the form and color of flowers, and the glorious promise of the renewal of life that flowers represent. Most of my work is large scale water colors, but I also enjoy working in collage. Currently I am selling original paintings and glicees at Imaging on the Square in downtown McKinney, and on commission.
