Artists Gallery - Lynette Terrell

Artist's Biography:
Lynette was born, raised and married in Muskogee, Oklahoma. After graduating from Oklahoma State with a biology degree, she moved to the Dallas area with her new husband. She worked for several years at a research foundation then retired to raise her family. When her children were of driving age she felt a new sense of freedom and went back to school to receive an MS in Accounting. She worked as a CPA until a few years ago when she retired from the workforce a final time.
Art has always held a special fascination for Lynette. “Arting” and crafting have provided her much pleasure over the years and with the encouragement of her artist/art teacher sister, she entered into a love affair with watercolors. Lynette jump-started her reentry into art with lessons, tutorials, and workshops provided by several of McKinney’s talented artists. She also became active in the Art Club of McKinney where she enjoys the camaraderie of other artists and is influenced by the many inspiring demonstrations sponsored by the club.
Subject matter for Lynette is usually a landscape, still life or a city scape. She often takes her inspiration from something personal, such as an old vase, a bird’s nest from her yard, the shoppe door of her sister-in-laws’ café, etc. Sometimes she introduces pen and ink into her watercolor paintings, which gives her work that extra “pop” that creates an illustrative look she finds so expressive.
