The Art Club of McKinney, founded in 1914 in McKinney, Texas, was created to encourage the appreciation of visual art in the community. Nearly 100 years later, the club continues to support this goal with:
- monthly meetings for members and visitors
- lectures on art topics
- demonstrations and workshops of various media and techniques
- art shows for adults and children
- organized visits to museums and gallery exhibits
- field trips to “paint outside the gallery”
- directory of local artists
- online gallery for art club members
Monthly Meetings
The Art Club of McKinney meets at
the Heard-Craig Gallery, 306 North Church Street, McKinney, Texas, on the 2nd Thursday of each month, August through May. The business meeting starts at 9:30 am and the program starts at 10 am.
The program generally includes a presentation/demo by a visiting artist and, after a brief lunch break, a workshop taught by the visiting artist.
Light refreshments and time to socialize are available at the beginning, middle, and/or end of each meeting.
Each artist is invited to bring a piece of their work for members to enjoy and vote on. The winner receives a gift certificate and is featured on this page.

The Texas Regional Art Symposium at the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts is featuring Women Artists of Texas this Saturday from 9:30am-5:00pm. Learn more at www.heardcraig.org where you can sign up online and pay with PayPal. Art Club members receive a $10 discount!
The opening reception for Lucia Smith's Fragments and Lights is
7-10pm at the Laura Moore Fine Art Studios, Saturday, Oct. 9th.
Lucia Smith is a local artist who creates wonderful photographs, oil painting, makes handmade paper and beautiful paper sculptures. Fragments and Lights is a collection of photogravure images that Lucia took while living in the Italian culture under the influence of an ancient history that is omnipresent in each darkened hallway or stark chiaroscuro passage.
And of course it is Second Saturday...
