The October meeting includes a demonstration by landscape artist Bruce Peil. Bruce has been a nationally known artist for many years and his work is widely collected. He has been on the cover of Southwest Art Magazine and been included as a featured artist in other publications such as Art of the West, and The Artists' Magazine.

Art Club business will be conducted from 9:30am-10am followed by Bruce's demonstration program at 10am. Following Bruce’s presentation, and lunch, he will teach a one-and-a-half day workshop in the Heard-Craig Gallery (downstairs) to people who have signed up. Bruce works in oils but artists using other mediums are welcome.

The cost for the one-and-a-half day workshop is $85, payable by check or cash before the workshop begins. Checks should be payable to The Art Club of McKinney. Please contact Patricia Crainas soon as possible to be part of this great workshop.

We will have a Mini Art Show at this meeting, so bring a work of art to enter. The Mini Art Show is a venue for artists to show their art work at the monthly meeting and the members vote on the art they like. The 1st place winner receives a $25 gift certificate from Asel's Art Supply, and the 2nd place winner receives a $15 gift certificate from Asel's Art Supply. Each member may win one first place and one second place during this club year.

The Art Club of McKinney, founded in 1914 in McKinney, Texas, was created to encourage the appreciation of visual art in the community. Nearly 100 years later, the club continues to support this goal with:

• monthly meetings for members and visitors
• lectures on art topics
• demonstrations and workshops of various media and techniques
• art shows for adults and children
• organized visits to museums and gallery exhibits
• field trips to “paint outside the gallery”
• directory of local artists
• online gallery for art club members

Monthly Meetings
The Art Club of McKinney meets at the Heard-Craig Gallery, 306 North Church Street, McKinney, Texas, on the 2nd Thursday of each month, August through May. The business meeting starts at 9:30 am and the program starts at 10 am.

The program generally includes a presentation/demo by a visiting artist and, after a brief lunch break, a workshop taught by the visiting artist.

Light refreshments and time to socialize are available at the beginning, middle, and/or end of each meeting.

Each artist is invited to bring a piece of their work for members to enjoy and vote on. The winner receives a gift certificate and is featured on this page.

You may join the Art Club of McKinney in person at the monthly meeting or any time by completing the membership application located in About Us.

If you haven't volunteered to help with any Art Club events, please consider doing so. The more volunteers we have, the easier it is for everyone. It is a great way to get to know club members and keep our club vibrant, healthy, and fun!

Do You Know Where the ...... Is?
Over the years, the Art Club has acquired many various and sundry items. Some of these are stored in our storage unit. Some are in safe keeping with our members. Our club is nearly 100 years old, and over time we have forgotten what we have or who is caring for them. Please help us create a list of items belonging to the Art Club, what and where they are, or who is storing them for us.
